AOR ECO FRIENDLY THERAPIST

“By using the AoR Eco Friendly Therapist badge, I pledge to fulfil the following guidelines wherever practicable within my therapy practice”:

  1. Minimise unnecessary purchasing in my practice – I continue to use cotton face towels and face flannels in my practice at all times and no longer use any disposable wipes or cloths.

  2. Use paper only where necessary, and to choose paper that is recycled/carbon balanced/ FSC or PEFC certified – I email the client consultation health form 24hours before the appointment, this gives me more time to plan a bespoke treatment and in turn allows for more quality time with client upon their arrival.  I email invoices if required to save on time and paper usage.

  3. Ensure that any products I use are produced in an environmentally sustainable way - I use only Neal’s yard organic products in my practice. Not only are organic ingredients better for your overall health as they contain the highest levels of vitamins and minerals, they are produced in an environmentally sustainable way.  The added benefit of some Neal’s yards products that they can be refilled in the stores as well as most packaging is also recyclable.

  4.  Ensure that any chemicals used in my practice are not harmful to the environment - Neal’s Yard handwash is ph balanced and free from harmful chemicals and available for clients to wash prior and after a treatment - For both myself and clients I provide Neal’s Yard antibacterial hand sanitiser which is a natural and organic hand defence product.  It contain 70% alcohol and kill 99.9% of bacteria for hygienic hands on the go. The packaging is 100% PP plastic, it can be recycled with plastics.

  5. Consider the carbon footprint of items and products used in my practice - I see energy conservation is one of the most significant things we can do to reduce carbon footprint.  For my evening appointments which are provided in my garden cabin, lighting is low using candles with rechargeable batteries.

  6. Minimise the waste generated by my practice and make sure any waste generated is recyclable or compostable
    - I am to reduce as much waste as possible in my practice and I am mindful to use as many products as possible that is recyclable or compositable.

-Reusable PPE whenever possible.  I am currently using reusable face shields.

    - I am forever sourcing new environmental friendly and recycled materials to use in my practice, for example paper, pens and product packaging.

  7. Minimise the impact of my travel on the environment – In my best efforts to reduce carbon emission I when possible limit time spent in the car and using public transport. I chose to enjoy a cycle up to work in Wimbledon village through Wimbledon common - I will continue to improve and implement environmental eco-friendly changes within my working environment as I work from home or at a client’s home.

Small changes can make a difference for us and our planet.
