Maternity Reflexology treatment is one of the preferred complementary therapy chosen by women during their pregnancy because it has shown to improves general well-being and health vitality of mum-to-be.

This specialised therapeutic treatment can help to induce a deep state of relaxation so that the body can relax and adjust to the major changes which are taking place.

Foot reflexes are stimulated during the treatment session and may help to ease or prevent some of the discomforts and ailments which are often associated with pregnancy such as sciatica, lumbar pain, pelvic pain, nausea and fatigue.

It aims to balance hormones and boost your energy and the increased wellbeing.

Maternity reflexology trials have shown positive findings and confirms that women who have received regular treatments throughout their pregnancy have known to deliver closer to their term date, have shorter labours and may require less pain relief.

Pregnancy reflexology is a safe treatment in all three trimesters, however, I only treat clients after the 12 week scan and any treatment plan should be discussed with your midwife.

Consider treatments which should only be done by a fully qualified maternity reflexology practitioner. I was trained by Sally Earlam who is the Maternity Specialist and Head of Training and Education for the Association of Reflexologists (AOR). See her article on the benefits of pre-post pregnancy reflexology.

I had several treatments with Jacky before I was pregnant and then saw her during my pregnancy and then quite frequently to the end of my pregnancy. At one point I had quite bad sinusitis and Jacky helped relieve this after just 1 session which was amazing as you can’t take anything for it. Towards the end, the treatments helped me to relax and release that extra pressure towards the final days of giving birth.
